Fascinated by the inspiring shapes of found wood we created interesting jewellery pieces.
At the peak of summertime heat in London, a fantastic afternoon was enjoyed in my shadowed garden Mews between busy nesting wrens and singing blackbirds, healthy fresh nibbles washed down with long cool drinks fuelling the brain and firing the mental energy of our small group of variously wise and creative ladies. This day’s distraction was to invent and make jewellery from pieces of old wood found somewhere in each lady’s nature and touching each lady’s heart. The potpourri was laid out for all to wonder: beloved dark twigs of silver birches, parts of a rotting house canopy, broken branch scraps harvested from a morning walk with the dog, pieces of a fallen tropical tree stem from a local park… |

Take some colourful yarn, reels of silver and gold coated wire, elegant hooks, precision tools, strong glue, some shared reflections, a few pre-considered aspirations, a little reminiscing and, of course, some experienced advice and technical help, each piece magically evolves in the hands of we ladies into pretty, beloved, personal and outstanding wearable treasures in only four hours of concentrated creativity.
Congratulations to all of us! It was a big joy for our expert Wenyin, for the ever-supportive Yanxiong and of course, for me too! More creative summer afternoons are already planned for the Sunday of 2nd August, 23rd August and 30st August. We would love you to rejoin the circle again or anew to make us all even more creative, skilful, sophisticated and joyful. |
